The Chassis of the ROVER 12hp with Knight - Engine
The Chassis
The ROVER 12hp with Knight engine is built on a new chassis. Semi-elliptical longitudinal leaf springs are installed in the front and rear. Because of the Knight-engine bought from Daimler the typical ROVER combination of engine block - clutch - gearbox in a block connection is not possible. The brake system is more complex than on the less successful 12hp model from 1908.
The double coil spring damping of the chassis and the overhead worm or spiral drive of the rear axle are noticeable. |

The Knight - Engine
The ROVER 12hp is equipped with a two-cylinder Knight engine, which is purchased from Daimler. There are sources suggesting that ROVER will build it under license, but this is rather unlikely. In the ROVER catalogue of 1911 the different function of the engine is described quite detailed. This text may be found on the page about the ⇒ ROVER 8hp Knight.
