Valves
Overhead, actuated by the camshaft in the crankcase via long push rods
The overhead valve train is fully enclosed and automatically lubricated under pressure
Lubrication
Pressure lubrication. The engine sump contains 2 gallons of oil, which is fed from a gear pressure pump to each bearing in the engine.
Cooling
The cooling water is circulated by a pump and there is also a fan.
A thermostat is fitted to ensure rapid engine warmup during cold starts
Ignition
Via coil and accumulator, with the manifold easily accessible and placed high above the splash area.
Magneto ignition on request, £10 extra
Fuel system
The tank is located at the rear of the chassis and holds 12 gallons of gasoline, which is delivered to the carburetor by vacuum
The dashboard has a fuel gauge that shows the exact contents of the tank at all times
Electrical system
The Lucas 12 Volt Start and Lighting Set is equipped with dipped beam reflector headlamps and the dynamo is driven by an adjustable silent chain
Coupling
Consists of three panels with cork inserts running in oil automatically supplied by the motor
It is extremely smooth in action and easy to use
Gearbox
Three forward and reverse gears, operated by central gear lever
The gearbox is lubricated automatically from the sump.
Transmission ratios: 3rd gear 5.3 :1; 2nd gear 9.0 : 1; 1st gear 21.53 : 1
Transmission
Closed propeller shaft with central bearing. This prevents the shaft from bouncing at high speed and makes the gearbox particularly low-noise
