Hall, Anne

Anne Hall joins the ROVER rally team.
She takes part in the Acropolis Rally in 1964, but is outdone by technical defects.
Also in 1964 she takes part in the Alpine Rallye with a "P6 2000 TC". Also here she is eliminated with a technical defect (bearing damage).

Harriman, Sir George

Sir George is head of the BMH-Group in 1968 at the time of the merger with the Leyland-Group. This merger creates the BMLC (British Leyland Motor Corporation).

Harrison, E. Ransom

E. Ransom Harrison joined the ROVER Directorate in April 1931. At the beginning of 1933 he succeeds [ ⇒ Alex Craig] as chairman of the board. He held this position until 1954.

Hiljemark, Sivert

Sivert Hiljemark is chief engineer for force transmission technology at ROVER. From 1984 he develops the "K" engine.

Hill, Graham

Graham Hill drives the ROVER-BRM gas turbine car at Le Mans in 1963, together with [⇒ Richie Ginther]. During the 24 hours, they cover a total of 4172.91 kilometres without incident. According to their average speed of 173,546 kmh they would have finished in 7th place in normal ranking.
 
Hill was like Ginther, Formula 1 - works driver at BRM.
His successes in those days:

    • Great Price of Italy - 1st place and fastest lap
    • Great Price of France - fastest lap, later failed
    • Great Price of England - 4th place
    • Great Price of Germany - 1st place
  • 1963 u. a.
    • Great Price of Monaco - 1st place
    • Great Price of England - 3rd place
    • 200 miles of Aintree - 1st place

Hillman, William

William Hillman was plant manager at Coventry Machinists Company until 1870. Together with [ ⇒ James Starley] and [⇒ John Kemp Starley] he established the company Ariel Cycles.
In 1876 he left the company and founded his own bicycle factory. 1907 he introduces his first automobile.
He has six daughters. One is married to [⇒ Spencer Wilks], another is married to [⇒ John Black].

Hives, Lord

Lord Hives is managing director at Rolls Royce. In November 1942, he was commissioned by [⇒ S. G. Hooker] to settle the dispute over the further development of gas turbines arising between [ ⇒ Frank Whittle] and ROVER.
He is looking for a stake in Whittles Power Jet Limited. He and Hooker meet [⇒ Spencer Wilks] in Clitheroe. Wilks is advised to hand over the engine production to Rolls Royce. Basically, Wilks is glad to get rid of the "stuff". In exchange, Hives offers to take over the tank engine plant in Nottingham by ROVER.
Within a short period of time, the exchange is regulated - also through an exchange of personnel.

Holbrook, Oberst Claude

Claude Holbrook belongs to Triumph. He, [⇒ Spencer Wilks] and [⇒ Siegfried Bettman] discuss about a merger in 1930 unofficialally. No agreement is reached.

Hooker, S. G.

S. G. Hooker is the head of Rolls Royce. In November 1942, he mandates his business manager [⇒ Lord Hives] to settle the dispute between [⇒ Frank Whittle] and ROVER as he finds that the use of gas turbine driven aircrafts could be stalled.
On 1 January 1943, he was appointed chief engineer at the ROVER gas turbine research and development centre in Barnoldswick (building of a former cotton mill).

Horrocks, Ray

Ray Horrocks joined ROVER from Ford. He became Chairman and CEO in 1981. He wins Honda as cooperation partner.

Hudson, Charlie

Charlie Hudson heads ROVER's project department "C". He relieves their low budget by "material removal" from the scrap yard and is caught by the plant security department.

Huges, Mike

Mike Hughes joins the ROVER-Rallye-Team.
With co-driver [⇒ Ken James] he achieved 3rd place in 1962 at the rally "Lü ttich-Sofia-Lü ttich" in the class of the big limousines, overall the 6th place.
In the same year, at the RAC-rallye, again with Ken James, he achieved 3rd place in the touring class over 1,600 ccm, 11th place in the overall standings and 3rd place in the manufacturer's ranking.
