The engine of the ROVER 3500 is the V8 already known from P5 and P6 and has been reworked, especially the double valve springs used so far have been replaced by single springs. When the car appeared in 1976 - model year 1977 - the output was 155 hp, the torque increased to 29.5 mkg, the machine now rotates up to 6,000 rpm, the maximum output was reached at 5,250 rpm. The manual transmission has 5 gears, whereby the 5th gear is designed as overdrive. Borg Warner's three-gear automatic transmission had already been in use before. Acceleration and top speed are excellent.

The box-shaped instrument holder, which acts as if it has been placed on the shelf afterwards, is individual and requires getting used to. It's like forgetting the instruments when designing the interior and then delivering them in the toolbox. Nothing destotrotz are the instruments well visible and readable. The reason for this design is the strictly symmetrical design of the dashboard for right- and left-hand drive. The modular instrument holder fits both left and right on the shelf, and you quickly get used to this construction. Faster than the unconventional steering wheel, which is replaced by a "really round" three-spoke steering wheel for the American market.

The standard equipment is quite complete when entering the market with headrests at the front, automatic belts at the front, halogen headlights, fog lamps, tinted windows all around, internally adjustable rear-view mirrors, power steering and radio system with two loudspeakers. It is supplemented in the course of production.

Interesting is the
